Sodeifi – the beloved mascot of the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup – will visit Kuwait from 7-15 November as preparations for the tournament continue.
The oyster and pearl mascot will appear at a host of locations, including The Gate Mall, The Avenues, Marina Mall, Murooj, Souq Mubarakiya, the international match between Kuwait and Chinese Taipei, along with a number of schools.
Sodeifi's appearances will build excitement for the tournament, which will take place in Qatar from 24 November to 6 December.
Speaking about the tour, Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari, Marketing Director with the Local Organising Committee, said: "Sodeifi's tour will mark an exciting milestone in our preparations to host one of the most anticipated footballing events in the region, the Arabian Gulf Cup.
"We are sure Sodeifi's visit to Kuwait will ignite the country's passion and excitement for the game. We look forward to welcoming fans from Kuwait to enjoy this festival of football."
Sodeifi, which features the colours of the Qatari flag, first appeared in 2004 when Qatar hosted the Arabian Gulf Cup for the third time. The mascot has already visited a number of schools and public places in Qatar.
This year's tournament will be contested by five nations: hosts Qatar, defending champions Oman, Kuwait, Iraq and Yemen.
All the matches will be held at Khalifa International Stadium, which reopened its doors in May 2017 following an extensive redevelopment in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. Located in Aspire Zone, this historic venue has previously hosted the Arabian Gulf Cup, Asian Games and AFC Asian Cup.
This will be the fourth time Qatar has hosted the tournament, which is organised by the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation. The Maroons have won the event three times and will be aiming for a glorious double in 2019 after lifting the AFC Asian Cup in February.
