The England women's team took part in a training session with their Qatari counterparts and members of the Generation Amazing programme during their recent winter camp in Doha.

Organised by the Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Generation Amazing, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy's flagship football for development programme, the event focused on the importance of preparation, along with the impact of inspirational role models.

Generation Amazing coach Jafla Al Hajri said: "We had some great conversations with the players and, from what we observed, the training sessions we organise through Generation Amazing are going in the right direction."

Al Hajri continued: "The session helped me as a coach and player, and I'm looking forward to speaking about this with other players and passing on my experience."

England spent a week training at Khalifa International Stadium – a proposed tournament venue for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ – in preparation for this summer's FIFA Women's World Cup, which will take place in France.

Baroness Sue Campbell, Head of Women's Football at the English Football Association, welcomed the opportunity to meet and inspire Qatar's young footballers and members of Generation Amazing.

"We are here as part of our preparations for the World Cup in France," said Baroness Campbell. "This is an amazingly inspirational stadium, but it is also about the opportunity to meet women here who are part of the incredible Generation Amazing programme. Sharing our experiences is part of what we are here to do."

Lulwa Al Marri, President of the Qatar Women's Sport Committee, handed over a Qatar national team jersey to England head coach Phil Neville and Baroness Campbell after the activity, and thanked the England players for inspiring the local girls.

Hosting the England women's team in Qatar was organised after the countries' respective football associations signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate and share expertise in several key areas, including women's football, football development, grassroots football and youth development.

Mansoor Al Ansari, General Secretary of the QFA, said: "We were delighted to host the England women's team for their winter training camp as part of their preparations for the World Cup. We hope the team enjoyed the exceptional facilities and got the best out of their visit."
