The Brazil 2014 Fan Zone, hosted by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) at Katara, has sparked an incredible response from the 300 volunteers who have joined Club Amazing - the SC's volunteering programme.

Volunteers from Qatar, the GCC,Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Philippines, India and the UK, amongst other countries, took part in the selection process to enter Club Amazing, a programme which has kicked off to help deliver the 2014 Fan Zone and will continue for the next eight years through the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™.

In order to participate, applicants had to be over 18 years of age and provide details of the amazing experience and skills that made them suitable for the programme. Many youths from Qatar didn't want to miss out on the chance to support their country on this occasion and joined the Supreme Committee's Club Amazing volunteer programme.

Noor Al Mannai, a young Qatari volunteer, said: "This initiative will show the world that we are ready to deliver an amazing World Cup which will mix our traditions with modernity and technology."

Khalid Al Ghanim is an 18-year-old senior in High School and the youngest volunteer of the group. This is not Khalid's first volunteer experience, but it is his first in a sports event.

"I am very honoured that Club Amazing chose me and I think they chose well," said Khalid. "I like to help people and put smiles on their faces."

For Muneera Al Thani, another young volunteer, the cooling technology at the Fan Zone has been a fantastic surprise. She is confident that Qatar is ready to host a superb World Cup and is thrilled to be part of this volunteering experience.

She claimed: "I enjoy helping people and I am proud to give a helping hand to deliver an amazing fan experience."

On her part, Jubaina Mohammed Ali, from India, highlighted: "By putting the Fan Zone together, Qatar and the Supreme Committee have overcome a great milestone. Making this happen was a difficult test for us and we have passed with flying colours."

Volunteers work on shifts of four hours under direct supervision of SC Local Engagement staff. They provide support and information, mainly focusing on protocol and organisational tasks.

The Supreme Committee used the database of volunteers of previous events as a starting point for Club Amazing, later targeting people from all ages, mainly students, SC staff and the general population.
