The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) was a Launch Partner for the unveiling of a new Centre of Excellence for the sports and events industries in the Middle East. The launch of this new Centre of Excellence, called the Josoor Institute, was the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.
The SC is tasked with delivering the infrastructure for an amazing 2022 FIFA World Cup™ that creates a lasting legacy for Qatar, the region and the world. The Josoor Institute represents both the delivery and the legacy aspects of this vision. Delivering sporting mega-events requires technical acumen, leadership capabilities and the interpersonal skills to successfully collaborate with a diverse set of local and international stakeholders. It has therefore been one of the SC's goals to create a Centre of Excellence that will attract global expertise to train the next generation of sports and events leaders in the Middle East and North Africa. The Josoor Institute aims to become a globally recognised provider of sports and events expertise and management. In addition to assisting in the delivery of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™, it will create a legacy of major events hosting capability in Qatar and the region.
In Arabic, josoor means 'bridges'. The Josoor Institute will build bridges between Qatar, the Middle East and the rest of the world. It will build bridges between the ambitions of young people with the reality of a successful career in the sports business. It will help our region to become a pioneer in tomorrow's sports and events industries, and it will give young people the skills to run major events that will transform the sports and events industries across the Middle East and North Africa.
To help achieve the goal of revolutionising the region's sports and events industries, the Josoor Institute has partnered with some of the world's leading organisations in sports business and academia – including Aspire Academy, Qatar Football Association, Silatech, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar University, Georgetown University and the Qatar Tourism Authority – to provide an academic framework at the highest international standards. Courses will combine vocational and academic study, and will range from running major sporting events through to sports media, volunteer management, marketing, PR and beyond.
The SC congratulates the team that successfully achieved one of our key objectives in launching the Josoor Institute. It will have a truly transformative effect on Qatar and our region.
