Josoor and SDA sign partnership agreement

Josoor Institute has signed an academic partnership with a leading business school to support the delivery of its flagship diploma programmes in sports and major events management.

The agreement with SDA Bocconi School of Management will see the Italian institution support the design and delivery of educational programmes and provide academic endorsements for Josoor Institute's flagship diplomas.

A centre of excellence for the sports and events industries that was inspired and developed by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), Josoor Institute is committed to utilising the power of Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup™ to develop sports and events professional, and contribute to the economic and social development of Qatar and the region.

The partnership was signed by H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the SC, and Giuseppe Soda, Dean of SDA Bocconi School of Management.

Al Thawadi said: "This agreement marks a significant step in our journey towards the delivery of an amazing World Cup in Qatar, which needs world-class talent working together in every area of its operation – matching the world-class talent we will see on the pitch."

"The partnership we are building today reinforces our efforts to create a legacy that will support the socio-economic development of Qatar and the region well after 2022," added Al Thawadi.

Afraa Al Noaimi, Executive Director, Josoor Institute, outlined the benefits of partnering with SDA Bocconi School of Management.

"Josoor Institute's academic partnerships give professionals in Qatar and the region access to world-class education and international best practices," said Al Noaimi. "SDA Bocconi School of Management is ranked as the best business school in the world for custom programme preparation.

"It holds extensive expertise in sports management and is one of the few business schools in the world to have earned accreditation from three of the most prestigious exam accreditation associations – AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA. SDA Bocconi also delivers the FIFA Master programme, which is now in its 19th edition."

Soda explained SDA Bocconi School of Management's approach to educating future professionals in the sports and major events sectors.

This partnership is in line with our identity and mission. The sports industry is growing, and Qatar is a leading and innovative country that is investing in this direction. The agreement coincides with the latest diploma programmes, which are open for registration and due to commence in March. The programmes, each consisting of six modules, will cover various areas of sports and major events management, including governance, planning, finance, marketing and communications, media and professional practice.
