The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy's (SC) Programme Management Office (PMO) has been awarded the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 certification by the British Standards Institute (BSI).

The Deputy British Ambassador to Qatar, H.E. Peter Chamberlain, presented the award to Faisal Nasser Al Kaabi, the SC's Programme Services Executive Director and PMO Executive Director, during a ceremony at Al Bidda Tower.

The PMO became the first SC department to receive the ISO 9001:2008 certification in 2015. Since then, numerous SC departments have obtained the award, including Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Support, Planning, Quality & Performance Management, and Finance & Procurement.

The ISO 9001:2008 certification must be renewed every three years. The PMO exceeded the renewal criteria in order to achieve the new ISO 9001:2015 certification, thus becoming one of only a few organisations in Qatar to receive the award.

ISO certifications acknowledge the successful development and implementation of a quality management system. In order to be certified, companies must develop suitable policies and procedures, keep clear records and demonstrate evidence of compliance on a daily basis.

Al Kaabi described receiving the ISO 9001:2015 certification – an enhanced version of the ISO 9001:2008 award – as a proud moment for the PMO.

"This quality certification represents another key milestone in our commitment to excellence. This achievement demonstrates the SC is serious in maintaining high quality standards, along with a commitment to continuously raise the bar as we focus on delivering an outstanding FIFA World Cup in just over four years' time."

Al Kaabi went on to thank both the PMO team and the BSI for their support in achieving the certification.

"We are honoured to be the first SC department to be re-certified and receive the new ISO 9001:2015 certification," continued Al Kaabi. "I would like to thank everyone in the team for their hard work, along with the BSI for its continued guidance."

Jamal Dalli, Business Development Manager, BSI Qatar, said the SC had demonstrated a strong commitment to quality management over the past three years.

"I applaud the Supreme Committee for leading by example with their push to achieve the ISO 9001:2015 certification, which is a world-class standard," said Dalli. "This certification is evidence of the Supreme Committee's efforts and commitment to best practices."

Mr. Chamberlain, meanwhile, commented on the strong relationship between the SC and BSI.

"It was my pleasure to present the ISO 9001:2015 certification to the SC," he said. "This award is a clear demonstration of the continued strong relationship between the SC and BSI."
