The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Algerian national team and its fans, as well as the other fifteen sides who progressed to the second round at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, for their historic first ever qualification.

This incredible success story for Algerian football and the wonderful celebrations that ensued in Algeria and countless other Arab countries, including Qatar, showcases the football passion of our entire region. Their qualification illustrates just how important the first ever FIFA World Cup™ in the Arab world will be for the further development of the world's game in this region.

Algeria will continue to represent the Arab world on Monday when they face Germany for a place in the quarter-finals. There will be no better place to watch that match than on a giant screen at our cooled, open-air Brazil 2014 Fan Zone, which is already successfully using cutting-edge technology to make public viewing in summer comfortable, enjoyable and exciting.

Our Brazil 2014 Fan Zone proves that, despite repeated speculation, Qatar is well on the way on our journey to delivering an amazing 2022 FIFA World Cup™. This tournament will bring together people from the whole Middle East, and people from across the world to experience our passion for football, break down stereotypes, and witness our hospitality and traditions.

Last week we unveiled the design for Al Bayt Stadium - Al Khor City, which is modeled on a traditional tent characteristic of the region. To be ready by 2018, it is our second stadium to be presented. Three stadiums are already under construction, and a total of five will be in different stages of construction by the end of this year. Major infrastructure and transport projects from our stakeholders are also achieving regular milestones.

Qatar is progressing well on the journey to delivering an outstanding, compact tournament that brings the entire world to the Middle East in eight years' time to witness and celebrate our passion for the world's game.
