The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) this week participated in the Aspire 4 Sport (A4S) Summit, which brings together leading football and performance specialists, as well as the Leaders Sport Business Summit in London. The prestigious industry conferences provided the SC with an opportunity to discuss business opportunities and build further relationships with key stakeholders and companies.

H.E. Khalid Fahad Al Khater, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of the Netherlands was also in attendance at the A4S Summit and visited the SC booth at the event. Henk Markerink, CEO of Amsterdam Arena, discussed the importance of sustainability and innovation, as well as the ongoing relationship with the SC as Stadium Operations Consultant. Amsterdam Arena assist on the development of business cases for all the competition venues of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™including stadiums, stadium precincts and training sites.

Star guests at this year's edition of A4S included Xavi Hernandez, Carles Puyol, Andre Villas-Boas, Ronald de Boer, Marc Overmars, and Edwin van der Sar.

Talking to www.sc.qa, Marc Overmars, the former Ajax, Arsenal and Barcelona player, and currently Director of Football at Ajax Club, said: "I played in the 1994 FIFA World Cup with the Netherlands, and as a young football nation like Qatar, the United States faced many challenges but put on a memorable tournament. Now I am looking forward to the World Cup being hosted in Qatar, and the Middle East for the first time."

The SC was also present with a booth at the exhibition area, where business meetings took place. Saoud Al Delaimi, Head of Regional Relations at the SC, said: "Aspire 4 Sport is a valuable opportunity to interact with leading companies and stakeholders in world football, and we're delighted with the level of interest we received. We have met over 30 companies during the two-day event, and built on our existing relationships in these two days here in Amsterdam."

The opening session included a presentation from the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) about the Sports Business Opportunities in Qatar, following the forum that took place earlier this year in Doha. The panel was composed of Saud Al Attiyah, Director of Economic Policies and Research at the Ministry of Economy of Commerce of Qatar, Bahadir Yadikar, Advisor to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Qatar, Marcel Kerkvliet, International Tax Partner at Ernst and Young, and Alex Charles, Economic Legacy representative from the SC.

Members of the SC also attended the Leaders Under 40 Awards at the prestigious Natural History Museum in London. Nasser Al Khater, SC Assistant Secretary General for Tournament Affairs, was selected to take part in the judging process for these Awards. This was then followed by the two-day Leaders Sports Business Summit.
