Members of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy's (SC) 2017 Youth Panelwere given an introduction to live broadcasting during a visit to Al Kass Sports Channels.
More than 30 panelists attended the session, which included details on how Al Kass is preparing to cover the 2022 FIFA World Cup™. Members were informed about various technical aspects of broadcasting and visited the studios used for a range of popular shows, including Al Majlis and the station's coverage of the Qatar Stars League.
It's the latest activity for the 2017 Youth Panel, which has visited stadium sites, attended various workshops and volunteered at SC events, including the Khalifa Stadium Workers Appreciation Dinner and Darb Al Saai.
Doha College student Hayat Ali Bakali, 17, said he had enjoyed all aspects of being a Youth Panel member.
"It's a great opportunity to meet new people and learn how Qatar is preparing to welcome so many fans for the World Cup," said Bakali. "We have learned that the World Cup is not only about the games – it's about leaving a legacy."
"The visit to Al Kass has given an insight into how they are going to be ready for live transmission of all the games in 2022," continued Bakali. "I am looking forward to sharing this experience – and others – with my friends and family, even the ones back home."
Qatar University student Maraim Ibrahim, 19, said she had learned a lot from being a member of the Youth Panel.
"It's one of the best experiences I've had," said Ibrahim. "I've learned so much about the World Cup and how I can be part of it in the future.
"We learned a lot about TV production during the visit to Al Kass and visited the set of Al Majlis, which is one of the most popular shows in the region."
Seventeen-year-old Diva Maharani, from Doha British School, said the Youth Panel had highlighted Qatar's readiness to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup™.
"It's been an amazing journey," said Maharani. "We have attended so many workshops and been through many interesting experiences. Everything shows that Qatar is ready for 2022. The country is developing in so many ways for the benefit of the people. Being a part of the Youth Panel has really opened my eyes in regard to what's going on around me."
Khalid Al Jumaily, the SC's Community Engagement Manager, said the visit to Al Kass provided a valuable learning opportunity.
"This year's panelists have taken part in a wide range of engaging visits, including to Al Wakrah Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium and Hamad International Airport," said Al Jumaily.
"This latest visit to Al Kass offered panelists a behind-the-scenes look at how some major shows are produced, including live football matches. It was a valuable learning opportunity and I'd like to thank everyone at Al Kass for organising such an interesting and enjoyable visit."
The Youth Panel is an initiative of the SC's Community Engagement Division, giving a voice to the youth of Qatar in the delivery and legacy planning of the 2022 FIFA World Cup™. The programme aims to inspire young people living in Qatar, irrespective of their nationality or background, and foster a sense of ownership and pride in the 2022 FIFA World Cup™, and in particular the legacy the tournament will leave.
