H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), met Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in Doha on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Al Thawadi and Khan discussed the potential recruitment of skilled Pakistani nationals to support preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™, along with business opportunities, such as supplying goods, services and materials for tournament infrastructure projects.

Al Thawadi and Khan also discussed tournament preparations and the legacy plans for Qatar's modular stadiums. One of the SC's key legacy projects – Generation Amazing – was also highlighted at the meeting. The football for development programme has benefitted more than 28,000 youth in Pakistan since its launch in 2009.

The work of Qatar Behavioural Insights Unit (QBIU), which was launched by the SC in 2016, was also a topic for discussion. Pakistan is proposing to launch its own 'nudge unit', which QBIU will support through the delivery of a pilot project.

Khan is visiting Qatar following an official invitation from His Highness The Amir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. During his visit, he discussed the prospect of developing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Khan also addressed members of the Pakistani community in Al Wakrah.

Al Thawadi said: "It was a pleasure to meet the Prime Minister and discuss ways of further strengthening the relationship between our countries. Pakistani nationals are already making a massive contribution to the first FIFA World Cup in the Arab world, with 190 currently employed on our projects.

"Our commitment to supporting Pakistan goes back to the start of our journey to bring the World Cup to Qatar – when we launched Generation Amazing, our key corporate social responsibility project. We have built ten football pitches under the Generation Amazing banner in Pakistan, with the express aim of bringing people together through football.

"As I explained to the Prime Minister, we remain committed to supporting Pakistan in a range of areas, including behavioural economics. Qatar has led the region in this subject and we are happy to share knowledge and expertise with one of our closest allies."
