The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) is showcasing its preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ during Darb Al Saai.
Located at Al Sadd and regarded as one of the country's major attractions during Qatar National Day festivities, Darb Al Saai hosts a number of tents from different entities across the country. Visitors are invited to enjoy traditional Qatari cuisine, take part in an array of family-friendly activities and enjoy cultural performances.
This year, the SC tent includes information about the Qatar 2022 legacy programmes, stadium models and a range of football-related activities.
One of the activities is 'Golden Glove' – a virtual reality game which tests a player's reflexes by placing them in the position of goalkeeper. The player is challenged to save as many shots as possible. 'On Your Head' prompts players to virtually score headed goals, with extra points for precision attempts which hit targets, drones and explode dynamite. Another activity – for younger visitors – is 3D painting. Children colour-in football-related images and see them come to life in 3D on tablets.
Also featured in the tent is the Goal Click Qatar photography series. The series features 36 photographs which reveal the untold story of Qatari football culture through the eyes and words of people living in the next World Cup host nation. Fifteen nationalities are represented by the male and female participants – including workers, fans, journalists, coaches, and both grassroots and professional players.
Speaking about the SC's involvement in Darb Al Saai, Mohammed Al Hammadi, Head of Stakeholder Relations, said: "We are delighted to be participating in Darb Al Saai yet again. This is a great opportunity for us to celebrate Qatar, while at the same time giving people the latest updates on our preparations for the World Cup in 2022."
The SC tent, which is located near Gate 6, will be open from 9 AM to 1 PM and 3:30 PM to 10 PM until 19 December. On 20 December, the SC tent will be open from 2 PM to 11 PM.
