The UK-based Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has recognised the continuing health and safety work undertaken by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC)'s Technical Delivery Office across all sites for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™, by awarding the organisation with the RoSPA Gold Health and Safety award.

The RoSPA award recognises commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention in major projects. This award reflects the SC's commitment and dedication to implementing highest levels of site safety across the programme.

"We are proud to be recognised for our commitment to site safety as we ensure that all workers continue to work in a healthy and safe environment," said Engineer Yasir Al Jamal, Vice Chairman of the Technical Delivery Office at the SC. "The SC always puts health and safety as its number one priority as we continue to deliver on the successful and safe completion of our projects."

The prestigious industry award will be handed over at a gala dinner on the 21st of June in London, where it will celebrate the SC's achievement and commitment to raising the standards of health and safety management across all sites.

"Achieving an excellent safety performance within the programme cannot be achieved by a single individual, but is a team effort involving all those working on our sites," said Al Jamal.

The SC Technical Delivery Office (TDO) is tasked with delivering the stadiums, training sites and supporting facilities. There are currently 6,500 people working on SC projects including 5126 workers on TDO projects, with zero work-related fatalities on any SC projects to date.

Julia Small, RoSPA's head of awards and events, said: "This award recognises [The SC's] commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record and raises the bar for other organisations to aspire to. We offer them our congratulations."

2016 marks the 60th anniversary for the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, the longest running initiative that recognizes excellence in safety performance. It is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas.
